Rehabilitation Services

The Arab Center for Educational Counseling provides rehabilitation services for patients suffering from chronic mental illnesses.

Capacity-Building Services

The center offers capacity-building services to Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to empower and develop their abilities. It supports these organizations in identifying the needs of their communities and helps them establish models and services that promote psychosocial well-being for individuals and families. These programs focus on childhood and protection, women's issues, youth volunteerism, and emergency response and crisis intervention.

The aim of these services is to institutionalize and sustain the work of CBOs, ensuring the availability of professional mental health and psychosocial support services that meet the needs of target groups in the region.

Professional Development

The Arab Counseling Center for Educational provides professional development services in the field of psychosocial health, targeting two main groups:

  1. Professionals and Service Providers: The center offers specialized and accredited professional diplomas in school counseling, family counseling, and professional supervision, licensed by the Ministry of Labor. Additionally, it provides short-term training programs tailored to the needs of professionals, equipping them with knowledge and skills to enhance service delivery.
  2. Individuals: The center provides capacity-building training for parents, spouses, and private sector professionals. These training sessions cover topics such as stress management, self-care, positive parenting, communication skills, and other areas that support psychosocial well-being and address community needs.

Empowerment Services

The center implements various empowerment programs targeting children, youth, and women:

  1. Child Protection Program: This is part of the center’s preventive mental health services. It works with children aged 6 to 14 who are at high risk of psychological and social issues. The program engages them in educational and enrichment activities that equip them with social and behavioral protection skills. Special tools and methods are used to empower children, helping them develop skills and alternatives to protect themselves from harm and danger.
  2. Youth Empowerment Program: This preventive mental health program targets young people aged 15–22 who are experiencing psychosocial difficulties. It aims to provide them with alternatives to violence and help them shape their identities while coping with challenges in marginalized areas. The program fosters self-awareness, emotional expression, understanding of psychological and physical changes, self-acceptance, and appreciation of diversity.
  3. Women’s Empowerment Program: This preventive mental health initiative aims to protect marginalized women from psychological disorders and social challenges by strengthening them both mentally and socially. The program includes:
    • Women’s Groups: Weekly meetings over six months, utilizing various tools to enhance women’s knowledge and skills in gender-based violence prevention and community empowerment.
    • Individual Consultations: Personalized counseling sessions to support women in addressing personal challenges.
    • Community Initiatives: Women-led projects to raise awareness of women’s issues in society.
  4. Big Brother, Big Sister Program:
This community-based initiative promotes volunteerism among university students while enhancing the psychological, social, and academic well-being of children in Jerusalem and Nablus. The program targets children with learning difficulties and those at risk of dropping out of school. These children are paired with a “big brother” or “big sister” from university volunteers, providing them with positive role models and mentors. The program includes individual and group sessions focusing on academic support and life skills development.
